Biography:
Isa Afacan currently serves as the Director of Academic Affairs at the
Istanbul Center, a prominent Turkish-American institution in Atlanta, GA after teaching International Affairs classes for three years at Florida International University. He is responsible for developing strategic relations with metro-Atlanta universities and executing conferences, panels, and lectures on local, national and international affairs.
He initiated and organized the critically acclaimed Distinguished Speaker
Series, whose past lecturers included exceptional leaders such as the Turkish Minister of Foreign Trade, members of the Turkish Parliament, the US Ambassadors, Fortune 500 CEOs, university presidents, and Atlanta's civic leaders. He also served as a liaison between visiting dignitaries from Turkey and the state of Georgia's local and state government officials.
Mr. Afacan is a PhD candidate in the School of International and Public
Affairs at Florida International University, and currently working on his dissertation on Turkish-American foreign relations in the post-Cold War era. His areas of interests include American foreign policy, Turkish foreign policy, national security and international relations theory.
