A gift from a local financial firm will bolster Kennesaw State University's international initiatives, including a partnership with a Japanese university and a new campus in Montepulciano, Italy.
The contribution to the university's foundation by Henssler Financial will establish a global investment scholarship for finance majors. The recipient will study global markets and participate in an exchange program with Soka University in Japan, along with helping create and manage a student investment fund.
The gift also supports Kennesaw's efforts to establish its first overseas campus in Italy, a growing study-abroad destination for students learning about art, politics, culture and Italian language. The foundation is spending $520,000 on a 25-year lease on classroom space in a restored 18th-century fortress.
The recent Henssler gift also renewed a scholarship that has provided assistance to single parents studying finance at the undergraduate level since 2002.
