Students from India, Brazil and Latvia were among the winners of technology leadership scholarships for women at Georgia State University's Robinson College of Business.
Rossita Presley from Latvia, Gayathri Kunapuli and Lubna Memon from India and Natalia Long from Brazil won four of six 2010 Bergeron Women in Technology Scholarships awarded this year to both undergraduate and graduate students. The scholarships range from $7,500 to $10,000 and include a mentorship program designed to help the recipients in education and career advancement.
Shavonne Verdree from Decatur and Catherine Waquespack of Atlanta, also won scholarships this year.
Sandra and Douglas Bergeron donated $1 million to fund the endowment for the scholarships, which have been awarded to 21 women since 2006. Douglas Bergeron is CEO of California-based VeriFone Systems Inc., an electronic payments company that employs more than 300 people in Atlanta.
