Atlanta-based King & Spalding LLP has appointed Jawad Ali as managing partner of the firm's Middle East office in Dubai.
Mr. Ali replaces Philip Weems, who will return to the firm's Houston office and continue heading up its global energy practice.
Mr. Ali has 15 years of experience in the Middle East in cross-border corporate and investment matters as well as Islamic finance, a field in which King & Spalding is known internationally.
The firm has 30 lawyers in offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, focusing on commercial, corporate and financial transactions and project management in the energy field.
King & Spalding recently advised two large banks on the formation of a Saudi Arabian real estate fund that complies with Islamic law.
