An Indian IT company with U.S. headquarters in Atlanta has been named one of the world’s top 100 outsourcing firms.

NIIT Technologies Ltd. is the Atlanta-based branch of NIIT Ltd., a company that started off in IT education and workforce training in India before it began creating software solutions in the late 1990s.

The International Association of Outsourcing Professionals named NIIT Technologies No. 33 in its 2009 Global Outsourcing 100 list.

The company which has worked with Delta Air Lines Inc., placed in the top five for air transportation outsourcing.

“NIIT Technologies is pleased that the IAOP has recognized our expertise in the air transportation industry as well as our continued growth and success as an international outsourcing service provider,” CEO Arvind Thakur said in a news release.

NIIT’s software operation broke off into its own subsidiary in 2004. Now the company takes in $100 million in yearly revenues in the U.S. and $250 million globally.
